Indigo Expansion Creates 150 Jobs In Welsh HQ And Across UK With 300 More Planned

Magor, Wales — 21st  October 2021: More than 150 jobs are to be created in the next 12 months by Welsh company, Indigo, a global provider of network infrastructure, telecom engineering, and data centre support services, with a further 300 positions planned over three years.

The first phase of recruitment is for Indigo’s Global Service Desk (GSD)  in Magor, South Wales, where new jobs will span a range of support and customer service roles as the facility expands to meet rising global demand. Indigo provides support to CSPs (Communication Service Providers), Internet companies and large enterprises that depend on telecom engineering expertise to run their global infrastructure.

In the second phase, recruitment will start for 300 open-location and office-based roles across the UK and Ireland, and further afield to support Indigo’s global expansion. The roles will include fibre planners/surveyors, wireless designers/engineers, project managers, field engineers, data centre technicians and business support roles in accounts, sales, and operations.

Kevin Taylor MBE, Executive Chairman of Indigo, commented, “Indigo’s growth reflects growing demand for expertise in supporting a range of infrastructure technologies that are transforming our world, from 5G and Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) to cloud and data centre services. We are proud to run our global operations out of Wales, where we are able to offer exciting careers at the leading-edge of new and emerging technologies.”

During a visit to Indigo’s Magor HQ and Service Desk, Wales Economy Minister Vaughan Gething said: “We welcome Indigo’s expansion and the company’s continued commitment to Wales. It is important for our communities that we can offer high-tech career paths within Wales and play a key part in global growth sectors such as communications and digital industries.”

Established in Magor, South Wales, in 1998, Indigo has more than 1,500 people engaged on projects and services across 90 countries. The Global Service Desk is the Centre of Excellence (CoE), a single point of contact for all reactive and proactive support and maintenance requirements from global customers. Fully staffed 24x7x365, the Indigo team manages the dispatch of field service engineers to troubleshoot client infrastructure issues, in conjunction with owning the spares parts management process.

Indigo has been growing its capabilities in the design and build of Fibre and Wireless infrastructure and building out a global network of engineers. In June 2021, Indigo unveiled a refreshed brand which included the full integration of subsidiary 4site into the company, an Irish network infrastructure specialist that was acquired in 2019.
