BackgroundCellnex acquired Cignal in 2019. Before that Cignal was launched in 2015 with the acquisition of a portfolio of 300 communications towers from state-owned forestry company Coillte.
Indigo was selected to deliver specialist planning and acquisition services including legal mapping, boundary rectification and land registration for Coillte Telecoms (now Cellnex) across their nationwide property portfolio.
Indigo provides key survey, design, engineering and planning services to Cellnex. The range of services adds real value to our business.
The Coillte PRAI project utilised Indigo’s flexible, adaptable and experienced multi-disciplinary skill sets. We applied our broad range of competencies to undertake a high run-rate nationwide survey, mapping, review and land registration exercises on 33% of the now Cellnex site portfolio.
Utilising the latest RTK-enabled GPS surveying equipment Indigo surveyed and mapped access tracks of up to 10km in length as well as the accompanying hilltop telecommunications compounds.
This site-by-site exercise included a review of all folios traversed for each right of way, and resulted in defined rights-of-way and compound footprints being registered with the PRAI which facilitated the accurate transfer of ownership between Coillte Telecoms and Cignal Infrastructure Ltd and then to Cellnex.
By getting to grips with the scope of this project quickly, our initial works allocation was expanded significantly due to our ability to exceed our client’s expectations and deliver their requirements within very tight timelines from a standing start.
